Some of the South's Finest MMA Cage Fighters at NEW YEARS KNOCK OUT coming Saturday January 17th at Daphne Civic Center

Ultimate Event Promotions, LLC (UEP) is bringing the fastest growing sport on the planet –- mixed martial arts cage fighting -- to the Alabama Gulf Coast at NEW YEARS KNOCK OUT on Saturday January 17th 2009.

The card for NEW YEARS KNOCK OUT features amateur and professional fighters from the finest fight teams in the South. Teams from Mississippi, Florida and Alabama are scheduled to compete.

Amateurs will fight for three rounds of three minutes duration each, with professional bouts being three rounds of four minutes each. All fight results will be reported to the major MMA ranking organizations for reporting and publication purposes.

The referee is a very important part of the MMA experience and New Years Knock Out is fortunate to have Biloxi native “Big John” Dixson. His experience with officiating and fighting in hundreds of MMA events (he has held five MMA World Titles and is currently the WKC Heavyweight Champion and European Heavyweight Champion) makes him a valuable part of the Ultimate Event Promotions team.

All fighters sign a contract prepared by the UEP attorney and must provide recent blood work results showing negative for HIV and Hepatitis C. UEP has obtained the medical expertise of Dr. Albert W. Pearsall IV, Professor in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of South Alabama, regarding a variety of medical and medico-legal issues pertaining to ultimate fighting and safety within the ring.

In addition to the UEP Medical Consultant, Dr Pearsall, there will be a Ringside Doctor and paramedics on stand-by. UEP ensures the fights will be competitive, safe and exciting for all participants.

Devout fans and casual onlookers in search of unusual weekend entertainment can expect a well-produced event with Ring Announcer, Ring Girls and professional lighting including automated moving fixtures and a mega-watt sound system.

Tickets are general admission seating only and can be purchased online at www.UEPLIVE.com and at local sponsor locations in advance of the fight for $30 and will be available at the door for $40 each. Tickets go on sale at the Daphne Civic Center at 2:00 pm, doors open at 6:00 pm and fights start at 7:00 pm.

The public is invited to the Official Weigh-In this Friday, January 16th 2009, at Omni Fitness Center located at 27955 Highway 98 in Daphne, AL. Fighters will report at 7:00 pm and fans will have the opportunity to meet them and get autographs.
